State Recital Competition
The purpose of the State Recital Competition is to select a student to represent the Gig Harbor Chapter of WSMTA at the annual State Conference (to be held in Bellingham, WA, June 17-23, 2012). The winner will peform in a recital at the State Conference.

TIME: 7:00 pm
LOCATION: Agnus Dei Lutheran Church
JUDGE: Dr. Ramona Allen (see bio below)
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: February 1 (monthly Teachers Meeting)
COST: $5 per student
Teachers, please submit the following information to Patti Jamieson by the February teacher meeting: (Firm deadline as the judge has requested all piece info in advance!)- STUDENT NAME
- TITLE OF PIECE (MUST BE 5 MINUTES OR LESS)
- COMPOSER
- TEACHER NAME
Include a $5 fee per student. (Collect the fees from your students and then make one check payable to GH-WSMTA.)
Requirements for participating in the State Recital Competition:
1. Each student performs one piece - 5 minutes or less
2. Must be age 19 or younger
3. Must have participated in adjudications Level 4 or above
4. Must have performed 2 memorized pieces at the adjudication
5. Piece played for the competition does not have to be played at the educational adjudications. However, the piece that is selected at the State Recital Competition is to be the one played in the WSMTA Conference Recital.
Bio for Dr. Ramona Allen...
Ramona Sohn Allen received her Doctorate in Piano Performance at Claremont Graduate University after earning her MM and Bachelor’s degrees at the University of Redlands and Andrews University. She has also pursued her music studies in England, France and Germany. She has been on the piano faculty of the University of Redlands, Riverside Community College, Scripps College, and Edgewood College as well as maintaining a private studio. Besides teaching, she is a sought after accompanist and coach and has served as a church musician for many years. She regularly performs solo and chamber recitals and has appeared with orchestras in southern California and Michigan as a pianist and clarinetist. She and her husband, Greg, have three young children.
